In the face...and some Bible Study

Today was...not great!

It started with teaching in Virginia's class.  This is the first time I have taught in months; besides doing the famous dinner with them, but that is more of a game than a lesson.  I started the Civil Rights lesson with them, and quickly realized that they do not understand my English the way I thought they did.  Virginia had a lot to add to the conversation, which is helpful for knowing what they do and do not understand.  She is also good about point out "phrasal verbs" that I would not think of because I just use them, and understand them!

Part of this time I was nervous teaching because Virginia was video taping me.  She had an idea to video tape me for her part of the Rome mid-term meeting.  I was NOT happy about this really, but there was nothing I could do about it.  I just feel uncomfortable because at this school I have not gotten to fall into a regular routine or flow of teaching.  I am just nervous.  Overall I felt like the lesson went well though.  They were engaged, responsive, sweet, and taking notes.   After class Virginia suggested bringing students to the ministry to speak on my behalf...not really what the mid-term is all about.  THen she left me in the lab to work!

She offered to have someone bring me juice and a cornetto.  I tried to refuse the food because I had a snack, but her response was, "you will not gain weight if you eat something!"  My response, "okay, I'll take a small cornetto!"  I didn't really want one, but you can rarely refuse the Italians!  So, this was the "small" cornetto that came to me via a student!

So, for my break I worked on stuff for "The South" lesson, and talked to Nick a bit...

In Angelino's class I did nothing.  I learn more Italian.  Then, he was talking about using Mr., Ms., and Miss.  I said that I think of Mr. = man; Mrs. = married woman; Ms = "older" unmarried woman; and Miss = younger unmarried woman.  He said that Ms. is for any woman who wants to be equivalent to a man and not have to be defined by their marital status; said it was a feminist thing.  I had never heard that, but sounded believable...I learn new things every day.  However, I feel like I've always used it the way I described it.  Then at the end of class he offered to teach me some kind of software on Wednesday to help me do lessons!

I came home on the bus, went to the store, did not get turkey, but got some cheese and eggs.  I took a nap later...dealt with some stuff...talked to Nick...worked some...made a pancake for dinner (wasn't that hungry, and had stuff from the international store in Rome thanks to Andrea!!), and worked on my "The South" lesson.

I talked to April for about an hour, and it was much needed...and I was so grateful that she took so much time out of such a busy day to help me out with some things!  I am so grateful for these kinds of friends!

Tonight Nick and I decided to do Bible study together.  He bought the Beth Moore, David bible study that I had been doing.  I am going to start at the beginning with him, and we will do it separately and then talk about it each night!  I love having an accountability partner, and sharing it with him is important.  I am VERY excited about these things!

P.S. Erin Farella, look what I finally got to use!!!!!!!!!
