12+ hours

Were logged on skype today...with one person.  Nick.

I laid in bed for part of the morning, talked to Nick on skype, worked on the rest of my Civil Rights presentation, and I learned a lot of things I did not know.  Unfortunately, it was mostly things about the KKK that I learned.  So disturbing.  Some of it I knew from history classes in school, but some of it I did not know.  I was also rather taken aback at how often Birmingham was mentioned in these articles.  Now, I am fully aware of Birmingham's history, it was just a bit shocking to see how prevalent we were in all of the articles.

Before lunch, I decided to go to the grocery store to get a few things.  While at the grocery store, I had a uniquely Italian moment that made me want to yell out "Buonasera tutti" for Nick to hear all the way in Gubbio.  So, today the Italians decided to actually take the numbers at the meat/cheese counter, so I grabbed one too!  We were all (like 5 or 6 of us) waiting our turn, and the guy that never seems to understand my request for 200 grams of turkey, started singing and whistling.  It was so cute and endearing.  I thought, "only in Italy would the meat guy be singing and appearing to truly enjoy his job and his co-worker."  So, as if that weren't unique enough, the guys phone rang...and being that I live in Italy, he answered it!  He had one hand on some woman's meat, and answered the cell phone.  I literally laughed out loud.  He just answered the phone...started talking to the person...and still had the gloved hand on the meat...it was such a uniquely Italian moment, that I could barely stand myself!  I so desperately wanted to call Nick, but I think he may have been sleeping off some of his fever at this point; which just after this was almost 103...poor guy!

I came home and ate my same lunch.  I started doing research on Montessori and REggio in preparation for my two week vacation in February (i.e. my Reggio Emilia conference and visits to Montessori schools in Northern Italy).  I then discovered where Montessori's hometown is AND that her original Casa dei Bambini is still standing in Rome, and is being used as a public Montessori school.  I MUST visit these places.  I had so much fun reading about these things and some new things that Anna Paola, Nick's amazing teacher, suggested.  Nick woke up briefly and we skyped.  he said that we could go to these places, and suggested that I ask Anna Paola about visiting the school in Rome because she is so well connected in the Montessori community, and in Rome.  Poor thing still had a high fever, so he took a nap while I worked (and yes, we were still on Skype).

The rest of my day was spend talking to Nick on skype, working on blogs, looking at Reggio/Montessori information, geeking out over those things, eating dinner (cooked and ate with Nick via skype), and continued to work.  I talked to Katie for a while on facebook and it was really good to talk to her! :)  Nick and I had fun sharing pictures from our past.  I had my external hard drive out looking at my Montessori project from Maria's class and we started talking about random things that we had pictures of!  I loved sharing with him, and seeing the ones he shared!  Look at how cutie cute he was (and of course still is):
I did some laundry, which was a pain in the butt because the washing machine was not working properly, so I had to wring out clothes and then hang them up!  PAIN. IN. THE. BUTT.

Then we fell asleep over skype...we're dorky...make fun if you wish!

12+ hours total on skype today...ridiculous...but it was a blah day outside anyway, so no need to get out...PLUS, I was really productive!
