I was really afraid that
starting a new week was going to make me sad because my momma was not here
anymore. However, I got up and tackled
the day anyway! I walked to school, and
had Virginia’s class first. For the
first time, in a loooooooooooooooong time, I was able to do a lesson! She said I could have 30 minutes to teach, so
I started the famous person dinner activity.
This class participated, but was not nearly as interactive as the
others! I think that Virginia has them
whipped into shape, and therefore they do not speak as much! However, they had some good answers!
For my two hour break I
worked on my Civil Rights lesson for Lilla’s class tomorrow. Angelino was not in class today, so I did the
famous people as well as I could, but they were not really into
participating.
I managed to get some
answers out of them, then thanked the Lord that they were not toooo loud today,
and spent the rest of the class period talking to T., the boy from
Wisconsin! We talked about the
differences in the schools systems, and then he gave me some better insight
into the differences between the high schools here in Italy! So, they have a choice between a classico, technico, artistico, scientifico,
and there might also be a linguistico;
I’m not sure. Anyway, in the technico
there is also geometra and then ragioneria. Forgive me if I spelled
those incorrectly. So, I knew some of
the basic differences, but what I did NOT know was that most of those schools
are technically just prep school…and by that I mean, they do not receive any
sort of “diploma”, they just go to a University; hopefully! The technical school receives a diploma; T.
said this is why he chose that path! I
thought that was wise of him! It was fun
to talk to him, though I felt bad about not getting a lesson done, but with
that class, some days I just try to maintain order, which they were doing a
great job of today..so no complaining!
I took the bus home, and
stopped at the grocery store to buy some turkey for lunch. The guy was still having trouble understanding my request, but when I got him
to understand, which by the way there are not any other meat guys that have
trouble understanding my request, he said, “ahhh…no. Tacchino non c’è, è finito!” Well, okay then…there is not any turkey
today! Booo!!! So, I went home and had bread, olive oil,
tomatoes, and cheese for lunch! It was
still good, but I was missing the turkey!
I talked to my momma for a bit and then started working on blogs. I had A LOT of blogging to do! I was able to skype with April for a while,
which is ALWAYS nice!! I spent most of
the afternoon blogging, and longing to go outside, but rain has taken over the
area…and when I say rain, I think it is a monsoon!
I talked to Nick a good bit,
as usual, made dinner, talked to Nick, worked on Civil Rights stuff for Lilla’s
class, talked to Mrs. Malissa (YAY!!!!!!! I love and miss my Mrs. Malissa so
much..her sweet voice, hugs, encouragement…everything), talked to Kelly briefly
(yay!! But we were cut short by
business..another day…), and of course, I blogged.
I made the mistake of telling Nick that our high school mascot was a mountie, and had to explain that it was a mountain man! He has gotten many, many laughs out of this! It came when we were checking the Italian Football League schedule, which we now have and WILL find a way to go to a game! We will also be free during the Italian Super Bowl. I joked that this would be the only one I would ever be able to afford to go to, so I wanted to go! It is a definite possibility! I continued to work on my civil rights stuff, and then cut it short and decided not to stress and just use what I had! Look…a new me!!!!!!

I was able to talk to Kelly
and Gracie briefly, and I love talking to them!
When Gracie asked me about Nick she said, “I can hear you blushing!” It is true…I do tend to blush and smile really
big when asked about him!
Then, I got to have a phone
date with my Erin! We set it earlier via
email, and I was SOO excited to hear her voice again; it had been too
long! We ended up getting to talk for an
hour, which is an eternity these days! I
do hate that it is mostly “catch-up” convos, but I’ll take what I can get! NOW, I need to also talk to my Meagan, my
Britt, my Brooke, my Alex, my Maria, etc. etc.
I did go to sleep happy
though….thanks to Erin and then Nick!
Nick was so sweet to say that he sees a radiance inside me, and that it
must be Jesus! That is my goal…no matter
how much I mess up, or say the wrong thing, or do the wrong thing…I want others
to see that I am living with Jesus inside of me!!
